SIL IN NUMBERS
SIL, the leading Trade Fair for logistics, transport, intralogistics and supply chain In Southern Europe, celebrated its XXI edition with the participation of more than 650 companies, 40% of which were international, along with professionals from 79 different countries.
SIL 2019, where Aragon participated as autonomous region guest, was held in parallel with the second edition of eDelivery Barcelona, the World Congress on Free Zones, and the InTrade Summit Barcelona, an event that brought together the ALACAT Congress, the International Congress of Authorised Economic Operators: (AEO), the MedaLogistics Summit and the AZFA Meeting.
SIL 2019 occupied an exhibition area of 22,000 gross square metres, presenting more than 207 worldwide-exclusive innovations from exhibiting companies and 212 private company events.
A “NIGHT OF LOGISTICS” PRESIDED BY THE KING
We celebrated the central act of the XXI edition of SIL, “La Nit de la Logística” [Night of Logistics], in the Museu Nacional d’Art de Catalunya (MNAC) and enjoyed the company of His Majesty the King presiding over the great gala dinner during which the 2019 SIL Awards were presented.
The event brought together a thousand professionals and authorities from the international trade, logistics and supply chain sector.
Among the main authorities that accompanied us were the then Minister of Justice, Dolores Delgado; Secretary of State for Commerce, Xiana Ménde; President of Aragon, Javier Lambán; Secretary of Infrastructures and Mobility for the Generalitat de Catalunya, Isidre Gavín, Special State Delegate of the Barcelona Free Zone and President of SIL, Pere Navarro; Minister of Economy, Industry and Employment of Aragón, Marta Gastón; President of Renfe, Isaías Táboas; President and CEO of Aena, Maurici Lucena; President of Puertos del Estado, Salvador de la Encina; President of the World Free Zones Organization, Mohammed Alzarooni; President of ALACAT, Galo Molina; President of the Association of Free Zones of the Americas, Gustavo González; President of the International Association of Authorised Economic Operators (OAS), Customs and Logistics, Antonio Llobet; General Director of the CZFB and SIL, Blanca Sorigué; as well as the presidents, CEOs and Managing Directors of leading companies in the sector.
During “La Nit de la Logística”, which was sponsored by the Grupo Fomento (Adif, Aena, Puertos del Estado and Renfe), we presented the SIL 2019 Awards, which comprised a total of 25 finalist nominations.
In total, four categories were awarded:

Mercadona - Digitalisation of the supply chain:
SEAT for its Supply Chain Control Tower project. - Logistics sustainability:
FORD España for its returnable packaging project for transoceanic shipments that helps to save on the management of 200 fewer cardboard packages each day, representing some 44,000 packages annually - Circular economy:
CELSA GROUP for contributing to the preservation of the environment by implementing the most sustainable steel production technology, recycling steel products at the end of their life cycle, reusing and valuing the by-products of manufacturing processes that use steel as a raw material, making fully recyclable products and operating its facilities efficiently.
- Logistics efficiency and technological innovation:
AWARD FOR THE BEST INNOVATION
An intelligent robot, from the company Mobile Industrial Robots, and an innovative integrated solution for the issuance of the e-CMR, by AndSoft, received the SIL Award for Best Innovation presented at SIL 2019 after the deliberation of a jury made up of 14 journalists specialised in the logistics, transport, intralogistics and supply chain sectors.
MORE NETWORKING FOR THE LOGISTICS CIRCLE
As part of the SIL 2019 Logistics Circle, brief meetings were held between the companies participating in the event and logistics managers of important companies in sectors as diverse as food and FMCG, automotive, metallurgy and steel, pharmaceutical and healthcare, chemical and textile production.
The networking lunches and speed dating events of the SIL 2019 Logistics Circle enjoyed the participation of nearly 250 logistics managers who held more than 3,000 direct meetings with other logistics managers and participating companies.
THE MOST INTERNATIONAL EDITION IN OUR HISTORY
Professionals from 79 different countries attended SIL 2019, attracted by the simultaneous celebration of seven major world events:
The World Congress of Free Trade Zones; the ALACAT Congress; the International Congress of Authorised Economic Operators (OEAs); the MedaLogistics Summit; and the AZFA Meeting; in addition to the XXII SIL Barcelona International Congress and the eDelivery Congress.
The SIL Congress alone enjoyed more than 100 success stories from companies such as Nestlé; Desigual; Boehringer Ingelheim; Pepsico España; SEAT; Mahou San Miguel; Eninter; Bodegas Torres; Grifols; Nissan; Vichy Catalán; Bidafarma; CELSA Group; Calidad Pascual; Hospital Virgen del Rocío and Alastria, among others.
Under the title “Supply Chain and Industry 4.0: the new era of digitisation and sustainability”, the SIL Congress brought together more than 220 international speakers throughout the 16 sessions.
